In the Sister-in-Strength Snapshot series, I want to introduce you to some of the fantastic women I’ve had the pleasure to meet and befriend on my own journey. The pursuit of strength can sometimes seem like a lonely affair, in a world that works hard to convince us that we should shrink ourselves instead of taking more space. Each woman highlighted in this series is one that you should definitely get to know!
Name: Tania Cristina
Age: 42
Location: Montreal, Quebec
WHAT DOES STRENGTH MEAN TO YOU?
Over the years my definition of strength has changed as I have evolved and expanded my strength and movement practice as well as my spiritual practice. It used to be that it meant being capable of handling physically demanding endeavors without help and having the confidence to get uncomfortable and try new things. Nowadays, I am much more focused on self-development work, and I see strength as a way of being, of standing in my full power and having the courage to be my true authentic self.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SOURCE OF INSPIRATION IN LIFE?
I work with people and I am always inspired by people’s stories. Everyone is unique and has a unique story to share with the world.
WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL MANTRA OR YOUR FAVOURITE SAYING?
“I’d Rather Be Strong” is a phrase that I coined a couple of years back when I achieved my StrongFirst Instructor Level II Certification. This was a personal achievement that I am still to this day extremely proud of given that I am the only woman in Quebec who is certified. Strength is a gift that keeps giving and if you have it and know how to use it, it will catapult you in all areas of your life.
WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT TO SEND OUT TO THE WORLD ABOUT WOMEN AND STRENGTH?
A positive empowered mindset is one of the most important assets you can have as a woman. I believe that cultivating physical strength is key to transforming not only your physical body but your mindset as well. I believe that when you are physically strong, you tend to perceive the world with increased curiosity as to what is possible. Plus, it’s just so badass to be able to lift heavy things!
